President Hinckley

I would like to record my feelings on the death of President Hinckley for my children to have when they are older.

I found out shortly after finishing the last few posts in our blog that President Hinckley had died. I had just finished on the computer when Ryan returned from a stake priesthood meeting. He came into the house and I asked him how the meeting went. He said that it was really good, and then he stopped by me and with a very sad look in his eyes said "I have something very important to tell you, President Hinckley has died." I sat there in shock and absorbed what he had just told me. I think that my first thought was this can't be right they were talking about him in the primary today. (lately I get to enjoy junior primary so that Kenzie will go to sunbeams.) My next thoughts were how happy he was to be reunited with his wife Marjorie and with Chist in Heaven. My final thoughts were of sadness for our loss.

After a few minutes of talking with Ryan, Aby and Kenzie came upstairs and asked what was going on. Isn't it interesting how quickly kids can pick up on things. We pulled the kids over to the couch and told them that the prophet President Hinckley had died. Both Aby and Kenzie were sad, however I know that they don't understand exactly what has happened yet. Aby asked why he died, and so we had the chance to talk about getting old and dieing. The last thing we did was as a family say a prayer of gratitude for the service that President Hinckley had given. I am so greatful to Ryan for that prayer. It helped to convey many wonderful feelings about President Hinckley's service.

I am greatful that I can remember so many things that He has done in my lifetime. I know that he was a true prophet of God. I am greatful for his leadership and his testimony. He has been the prophet that helped me to come and learn about Christ. I know that our next prophet will be chosen by Christ also. I hope that my children know how deep my testimony is on the fact that this chruch is run by Christ thru faithful and honorable men, and not by men alone. I know that the church will continue to grow and prosper because it is true. I am thankful that I was taught the gosple as a child and hope that I will be able to teach my children the gosple also.

best friends

The title says it all. I came out after getting ready for church and Aby and Kenzie were just sitting on the couch together helping learn their ABC's. I am so greatful each day for two girls who for the most part are best friends. They play more with eachother than anyone else. I don't know what I am going to do with Mckenzie when Aby goes to kindergarten next year.

After taking baths the other day and getting pajamas on the girls, I came out and was listening to Ryan play the piano. He was playing chruch hymns and the girls were watching him. Pretty soon Kenzie had climbed up onto the bench, and started watching Ryan's hands, then she put her hands up and started trying to copy his hands. It was amazing to watch her as she concentrated on Ryan's hands and them moved her accordingly. I couldn't help but take a picture of their hads together on the piano keys.
Brooklyn was mighty proud of herself for standing tall and playing the keys as well. Look at her face she is so cute.

Aby soon joined in watching and playing like her daddy also. Aby is always telling me that she wants to play the piano like her dad. (not like mom who can't even play chopsticks anymore.) I am glad that Aby has such a love of music.

My little climber

I was doing some work around the house the other day, and I heard some noise coming from the bathroom, I went to inspect and see what was going on. (Brooklyn has been know to play in the toilet water when the lid is left up.) What I found was my darling little girl grinning from ear to ear as she climbed up the step stool and got into the drawer. It was too cute, and so I took a series of pictures to prove that she really could do it.

Ahhh now she has reached the drawer and is seeing what is inside it.

The final victory is the green comb. I have to tell you that she spent the better part of the next 30 minutes taking stuff out of that drawer playing with it and then climbing back up to get more stuff. She can't walk quite yet, but she can climb like a monkey.

A few weeks ago we started to bring down the cathedral in the spare room downstairs. The kids were thrilled to get the toys and movies that had been in storage out again. Mom and Dad were glad to get some of the mess taken care of. We are still however looking for volunteers to help us move Ryan's gigantic computer desk into the other room. When we go back to the couches I couldn't resist tucking Brooklyn into the space and getting some pictures. She thought it was pretty cool also and started playing peek-a-boo.

This will give you some perspective about how much we did that day. Most everything is out only leaving the couches. Does anyone want one we have two too many.

Grandma Tanna's 80th Birthday

On January 13, 2008 we celebrated Tanna Sullivan's 80th birthday. This is Ryan's grandma on his dad's side. We have felt very priviledged to know Tanna and her husband Merlin. They are both very wonderful, and we are greatful that they are alive and doing as well as they are. While we were in St. George for the pary it was decided that we would go and take some 4 generation pictures with Great Grandma and Grandpa, Grandma and Grandpa, the parents and the grandchildren. We decided to have the pictures taken outside (yes in January) at the Red Rocks Park. The weather was fantastic 60 degrees with a south wind. Aby asked if spring had come. in fact we did go to the park later in the day. It was really hard for her to come back to 3 feet of snow a day later.

Here are all of the older cousins, Bottom Left: Ali, Aby, Kenzie, Kaitlyn, KayLee Top Left: Brooklyn, Ryan, Jocelyn. The only ones missing are SarahLynn, and Serina. We had a lot of fun. unfortunatly I dont' have any other pictures because my batteries died. I had to borrow batteries just to get these shots. So the moral, make sure to pack extra batteries.

We had a wonderful time thank you Shane and Rachelle for your hospitality we always enjoy comming down to visit.

Aby gets dumped!

For the past week our family has been getting over various sicknesses, and after three trips to the doctor and the pharmacy we are on the upward pull. (I hope) Because of the sickness I decided to stay home from church with Brooklyn today so that we could recoup and get some rest. Ryan took Aby and Kenzie to church and informed me that the talks were great. After they had been home a little bit my neighbor called and told me the funniest story about Primary.

Aby and Josh have been good friends for a long time now, and when we went over to their house a few weeks ago they dressed up as a bride and groom, and played wedding. (this isn't anything new) later at home that night Aby told me that she was going to marry Josh. (again no anything new) I smilied and Ryan told her that she couldn't get married until she was tall. Josh is now in Sunbeams, and Aby is in the CTR class that sits right behind him. In his Sunbeam class is another little girl named Megan who is adorable. Josh was sitting next to Megan today and told her that he was going to marry her. (megan) to prove his love to her he helped her get out of her seat to participate, and then helped her back into her seat when she was done telling her that he loved her and was going to marry her. Aby apparently heard this and leaned forward and said, "Josh I thought you were going to marry me!" (at this point it is all the sunday school teachers can do to stop from busting up laughing out loud.) Josh turned around and thought for a moment and then said "I will find you a new boyfriend." Aby apparently satisfied turned to her teacher and said "he is always changing her mind."

So I guess Aby has been dumped, and Josh is going to help her find her new boyfriend. I just talked to Aby and she decided that it is ok for Josh to marry Megan and she will find someone else she just doesn't know who yet to marry.

4 Generations

On Christmas day my mom and dad brough over my Grandma and Grandpa Roundy. While we were visiting we realized that we had 4 generation of family present, and decided to take pictures so that we would have them.
