funny comments

I realize that most people think I have fallen off the face of the earth, and while that does sound tempting, I have just been really busy for the past seven months....ok lame excuse. Anyway things in the Sullivan house are going, Aby is a busy first grader who loves to learn to read, Kenzie is having a great time in pre-school, and Brooklyn is well happy to be stuck with mom (most of the time.) I just wanted to get some of the funny comments that Brooklyn and Kenzie have said lately.

In the primary sacrament meeting: Kenzie .. I am recreated in the image of God. (correct line is I am created in the image of God.)

Brooklyn who is currently thinking about potty training.... Mom I pooping bubbles (this is said when she passes gas.)

helping daddy

For Christmas Ryan recived a compressor from Santa. He was very excited, and could be found the next day out in the garage putting it together, and of course little helpers are never far behind.

Mckenzie was absolutly intrigued with how to put it together, and helped Ryan out. Ryan for his part was really great at showing Kenzie all the parts, and how they worked. What a great guy.

They had a great time, and the compressor works great.

funny kids

Aby and Kenzie are some of the most imaginative kids that I know, and playing with a box is always one of the fun times. They love to pretend to be robots or turn it into a house or a boat. I love that they can find simple things to entertain themselves.

My big helper

Brooklyn is a sweetie, but she is attached at my hip, so when I am cooking dinner so is she. sometimes it is ok, others not so much. (usually when I need to use the bathroom, or try to go somewhere and leave her with a babysitter. thoese are the not so good times.)
Brooklyn is helping me to cook the meat up for dinner. (belive it or not she has never burned her toes on the stove either.)

Yeah.....cooking with mom is as good as it gets. (too bad I am usually cleaning up more meat than gets cooked from the stove.)

Funny Brooklyn

Brooklyn is growning up and getting cuter and cuter by the day. On this Sunday after I helped her get in her dress, I found her later playing with a kalidoscope, and putting on Kenzie's boots. She has really gotten into shoes lately, the only thing is she puts on Kenzie or Aby's shoes because they are easier.

Check out that grin.
Brooklyn is found sitting in the shoe basket in the kitchen.

Gingerbread family home evening

For Family Home Evening during the month of December I decided that we were going to make a gingerbread house. I cheated, because I didn't want the mess of making gingerbread, or the mess of trying to get grahm crackers to stick together so I broke down and bought one of the pre-made ones. (I do want to say that I think it was cheaper in the long run because it included the frosting, and all of the candy that was needed.)
The kids had a great time decorating the trees that went around the house. They didn't even eat that much candy to begin with.
Aby had a great time doing the big pine tree, and was having fun sneaking a few candies at the same time.
Kenzie love the decorating but mostly the candy. Isn't being a kid great!!
Ryan had a little bit too much fun!
I think that the house did turn out pretty great and it lasted for the rest of the month, and by the time that we allowed the kids to eat it, they didn't want it because it was too hard.

Kenzie b-day

Mckenzie Joy turned 4 years old on December 1, 2008. She was very excited, to wake up and be bigger. The biggest problem we had was convincing her that she was still going to go to Mrs. Kaye's preschool, and not to her next year preschool.
We had a great time openeing presents, and visiting with family. We are always so grateful for the family that we live by, and miss the ones that are not able to make it.
Grandma Sullivan gave Mckenzie a glass tea set among other things. Thank you Grandma we love you so much.
From Mom and dad Mckenzie got a barbie scooter...the only problem, it didn't work and had to be returned to the store for a different one, not barbie but still a girls scooter, and she rocks on it.
Time to blow out the candles. I admit it my one big downfall is that I don't do exciting cakes like my sister Tiffany. I seriously considered hiring her out to make a cake, but decided to just buy one instead.
The other present that mom and dad gave Mckenzie was a magnetic doll set where you can dress up the dolls, luckily for us there are two dolls, and it was a hit.

The great dinner disaster

This blog is to prove that even the mediocre have their off nights. I had decieded to make eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and pancakes for dinner. (this is a common dinner in my house.) Only I was running late, so I tried to hurry things along. I put the toast in and turned on the timmer so that I wouldn't forget them. Put the hashbrowns on to cook mixed up the pancakes, turned on the griddle, and go the eggs out of the fridge. As I was cooking the eggs, I forgot that I had the pancakes on and so they were a little bit brown. That's ok syrup fixes anything, then I went back to the eggs (don't forget I haven't checked the hashbrowns, or bread yet.) As I am stirring the eggs, I start to smell something burning, and I quickly check on the pancakes, ok a little crisp but still better than the first batch. I turn off the griddle and go back to the eggs, still smells like something is burning. I start thinking, and realize that I haven't stirred the hashbrowns yet....so I take a look in there and sure enough they are pretty burned to the bottom, so I stir them and try to salvage what is left. I am feeling pretty put out that nothing is turning out the way that I want it and then Ryan walks in. He looks at me, and thankfully he just asked what he could do to help. I must have looked pretty bad at that point. I asked him to finish the eggs while I finished the pancakes. After a few minuts he asked me what was burning, and I told him about the hash browns. He laughed it off. (remember I still have bread in the oven.) We finshed cooking, and got the table set, as I was checking for everything to make sure that we had it all, and I noticed that the oven was smoking.......oh crap I forgot about the toast!!! sure enough as you can see all that was left was a burnt offering. luckily Ryan saw the humor in the situation, and helped me to open up the doors and windows, and dress the kids in their coats for dinner. Needless to say, I haven't tried to cook that many things at once again. Hope that you got a good laugh out of this one.

putting up the tree

Oh Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How we love to put it up. (at least the ornimants not the lights. Those produce lots of cuss words. Mormon ones of course.) This year I managed to only have to run to the store once for more lights. I guess you could say that I love lights, the final count on our tree was 1600 lights.
Sadly Mckenzie got sick in the afternoon, and here you can see her sleeping. If you look at the picutre close up you will notice that her cheeks are bright red. luckily the tylonol kicked in for her to feel good enought to help with the orniments.
Aby was very excited, becuase this year she was able to help daddy get the outside lights ready to hang up. We did get them up in time this year, and we even managed to take them down before the end of March.

What a great helper, she was a little sad that daddy wouldn't let her climb up on top of the roof to help hang them. She needs to be a little bit older for that to happen.
Brooklyn was a trooper, but she didn't quite make it long enough to help with the ornimets, mom was actually ok with that.

Kenzie loves to help put on the orniments. She was very happy to feel good enough to help.
Aby did her part too.
The finished product. What do you think. Ok I left it like this for the night, and the next day I spread out the orniments, and made them look more even. I do think that Christmas trees are for the kids more than the adults, so that is why they get to help. (Ryan wishes that we had a formal tree, but not this year.)

Disney on Ice

I can't say that I never win anything anymore. While we were at the children's museum with Jen and her kids they had a drawing that you could enter and win 4 tickets to Disney On Ice. I laughed, and entered my name. Would you believe that they called me later that night to tell me that I was a winner of the tickets. (I didn't) The guy on the phone had to talk pretty hard to convince me. After all my luck at winning ......lets just say it isn't very good. My kids were really excited, they had seen the commericials on the TV, and had been asking to go, but it is way too much money. Ryan was a good sport, and played along.
Here are the girls are Ryan dressed up and ready for the show to start. All of the girls were able to wear princess dresses and felt like queens.
Here Ryan, Aby, and Kenzie all pose for me while I was taking the picture. Kenzie was the best to watch during the show. She was amazed the whole time, Aby took it a little bit more in stride. Brooklyn....Well lets just say she thought that moms lap and being by the isle were pretty good seats. I am just glad that she didn't start to cry or run away.
This picture pretty much sums up how Brooklyn felt. She wanted to just play on the stairs and run around. All in all though, we had a great time. PS the reason for the lack of ice pictures is they asked us not to take pictures during the show, and you know me a stickler for the rules.

Sleeping Beauty

Aby decided one night that she was going to camp out in the basement while the rest of us watched a movie. I do have to say that the spot she made was very unique and comfortable. She placed the beanbag on the bottom, and then built it up with pillows and other stuffed animals. To top it off she wrapped herself up in dads "Star Trek" blanket, went to sleep. Needless to say she didn't like being woken up to move upstairs, but she would have been more frightened to wake up alone in the basement. (she doesn't like the dark, and routinely I find her and Kenzie sleeping in the same bed in the mornings.)
